Start Your Kids Engine was established in 2007 to meet the needs of parents, caregivers and teachers of young children. Kilee Christnagel has been teaching early childhood children and families through the public schools for over 15 years.  Currently, Kilee is a literacy coach through Minneapolis Public Schools. Through this experience, Kilee has developed specific seminars and workshops to assist parents, caregivers and teachers in starting their kids’ engine in multiple faucets.

What does it mean to “start your kids engine?”

As a teacher, coach and parent Kilee believes this to mean:

-Planting seeds (small steps w/n a child’s immediate grasp)
-Understanding and valuing the process (more than the product)
-Creating pathways (moving a child from where they are at to the next level)
-Deliberate and explicit demonstration of problem solving skills and flexible thinking
-Experiential learning
-Developing the whole child
-Providing clear, explicit and consistent expectations
-Building on a solid vocabulary base
-Establishing a sense of community w/n the family, classroom or school
-Teaching physical and mental organization

Parenting seminars and staff development workshops are fun, interactive and hands-on. Each seminar and workshop is designed to meet the needs of the audience.
