Finding Educational Value in Everyday Play

This seminar focuses on early child development, learning pathways, how to choose educational toys (and get the most out of the toys you own), how to develop pre-reading and pre-writing skills in your young child and making play more intentional. As a preschool and kindergarten teacher it was easy to see that all families have access to the resources necessary to help their child be ready for kindergarten…if they only knew how to use those resources to there full potential! Kilee Christnagel will walk the audience through the important role that books, puzzles, paper and crayons, play dough, blocks, stacking cups and people play in preparing our young children for school.

When a child’s love tank is full his undesired behaviors will decrease as a direct result.

Building Bridges
(Audience: parents/caregivers of children ages 4-6)

This seminar will walk you through the process of using the free online resource of shutterfly to create scrapbooks. You will learn how to set up a free account, download & store photos, share photos, create albums, utilizing editing tools, creating a QUICK scrapbook with all the shortcuts available on-line. The instructor will walk you through the process, step by step, as well as, give you handouts that list each step. Many examples will be available for viewing before and after class including a variety of albums, personalized cards, photo cards, calendars, gifts and DVDs.
*Must have high-speed Internet access, computer and LCD projector for presenter to hold this seminar. Optional for attendees to bring laptop with wireless Internet to walk through steps with the instructor.

Tired of having to discipline your child? Feel like you are doing all the work and your child isn’t learning? Reduce the stress of parenting by attending this seminar. This seminar will focus on developing rules and consequences with your child & developing systematic ways of dealing with behaviors so you don’t feel drained at the end of the day. Learn about the various kinds of consequences: natural, immediate, delayed, restitution, time outs, redirection and loss of privilege and when to use them. You will have time to bring your specific questions and situations to the group and walk away with immediate ideas you can use that night.
